Y fue mucho más que una simple disciplina deportiva: se convirtió en un estilo de vida, admirado y adoptado en todo el mundo. Uno de los principales creadores de imágenes de este periodo es LeRoy Grannis, surfero desde 1931, que a principios de la década de 1960 comenzó a fotografiar el universo del longboard tanto en California como en Hawái.La impresionante obra de Grannis fue previamente publicada en Edición de Coleccionista en un lujoso volumen con fotografías procedentes de sus archivos personales que se agotó en tiempo récord.
